Why non Bumis opposing History as a must-pass subject?
Tuesday, October 26, 2010
it is a good move that history be made a must-pass subject as the new generation lacked understanding of the nation's history. the youngsters nowadays spend their time in front of computers.they look for a comfortable life but are not well-versed in the country's history.the education ministry said that history would be made a must-pass subject in the SPM examination from 2013 along with the Bahasa Malaysia subject but the non bumis especially those from the opposition party don't agree with the move.to them Malaysia history is not important as they said it only involves the bumis only.well everyone should understand this land earlier was called tanah melayu and obviously they are the people who lives there.while in sabah and sarawak they have indigenous population which made up of some 30 groups.the non bumis came in the later part of the history but they are still part of the history.they should not fear with Malaysia's history if they really love this country.they should be proud of it and happy with the move that history be made a must-pass subject so that everyone in this country knows about the history of the country.we can see in a poll carry out by the star which majority of its readers are non bumis voted whether the agree with the ministry's move or not. 75% opposed it,why? they are simply not patriotic and does not have love for this country.

Tengah - ‘Be open minded and stay updated’
MIRI: Community leaders, especially village and longhouse chiefs, should adopt an open mind and make decisions based on consensus when resolving issues which contained differing views and ideas.
Second Minister of Planning and Resource Management Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hassan said such a stance was important because the rapid change in online technologies and globalisation meant that the people, especially the younger generation, were now very exposed to what’s happening in the outside world.
Easy access to the Internet had led to situations where issues become more complex and the younger generation more vocal and demanding, at times.
“Have an open mind and get consensus when there are different views and ideas,” Awang Tengah said at the Miri Division community leaders’ seminar yesterday.

Taib not worried by Internet abuse
He said, in that context, the ICT practitioners should get together with the print and electronic media in Sarawak, to reach out to the people, through a good and widespread network of information.
“Forget about the blogs, Twitter or Facebook (social networking websites) as these are hobbies for people but it is much more important to link to government services, especially serious affairs of development which are the bread and butter of the people,” he said at the Sarawak ICT Development and Media Network launch and Sarawak Chief’s ICT Media Award 2010 presentation here tonight.

Melaka Runtuh Kerana Kaum Cina, Chua Soi Lek Jangan Putar Belit Sejarah - Peraktoday

Where will the ‘Lim Guan Eng of Sarawak’ stand ? - Audie61′s Weblog
In Semenanjung Malaysia, they have Lim Guan Eng, in Sarawak, we have Chong Chieng Jen.
Like the Lims dominate the DAP in the west, the Chong family wields great influence over the state DAP in Sarawak. They may even be nursing the confidence that Chieng Jen is now unbeatable. Maybe even a future Chief Minister of Sarawak. It has happened in Penang with Lim Guan Eng, hasn’t it?
In politics, perception is more powerful than reality. They believe they will win in the long run.
So far, things have been going Chieng Jen’s way. The second term MP for Bandar Kuching rode the waves of discontent against SUPP in the state election of 2006, narrowly beating Alfred Yap Chin Loi and winning the new seat of Kota Sentosa.

US behind Wikileaks revelations - Iran
Mohammad-Javad Larijani
A senior Iranian diplomat says recent revelations by whistleblower website Wikileaks are Washington's ploy to cover up human rights violations by the US.
In the largest-ever revelation of secret US military documents, Wikileaks released nearly 400,000 classified reports about the US-led war in Iraq.
The leaked documents, which cover the period between January 1, 2004, and January 1, 2010, have shed light on a myriad of crimes and offences committed in Iraq over the past few years, including assassinations, murders, torture and rape.
"It seems that these [revelations] are made upon the order of the US," Secretary-General of Iran's High Council for Human Rights Mohammad-Javad Larijani said on Monday at the summit for reviewing the human rights situation in the US.
"The message of Wikileaks documents is that the Iraqi people have been tortured by Iraq's security forces, and the only wrongdoing of Americans is that they witnessed the incidents and remained silent," IRNA quoted Larijani as saying.
"This is while the US had the main role in these incidents and is the defendant," the Iranian diplomat added.
Larijani said unfortunately the Internet, which was supposed to provide all people with vast information, is being used for publishing anti-information in the world.

Tengah - ‘Certain NGOs giving SCORE a bad name’
by Irene C. Posted on October 25, 2010, Monday
Awang Tengah urges media to give balanced reports by portraying positive aspects of govt programmes KUCHING: Certain non-government organisations (NGOs) are to be blamed for the negative portrayal of Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE), said Second Planning and Resource Management Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hassan.
For example, they highlighted negative links between a hydro dam project to environmental issues and the displacement of the locals.
“This portrayal is not balanced as the positive outcomes of the project are not projected to the people, thus causing confusion among them,” said Awang Tengah at the 19th Nationalism Essay Writing Competition-cum-Media Appreciation Night on Saturday.
Teng accuses opposition of fanning unreasonable demands
Posted on October 25, 2010, Monday
KUCHING: Many calls to the government seem to have gone overboard simply due to the tactics of the opposition, observed SUPP treasurer Datuk David Teng.He said some political foes had put the demand of the people to a level that brought many issues to a knotty situation.
The Assistant Minister of Modernisation of Agriculture (Food Industries) asserted that what the party or rather the government could fulfill was to meet the basic needs of the various communities but not endless requests.
He felt that the people had to be told that their soaring demands might result in disappointment.
“We must tell them what we can do.

The Pentagon has just sent Congress Saudi Arabia's latest shopping list, topped with 84 F-15 jet fighters and 190 helicopters, as predicted here last month. It's always funny how some quantities are round -- 200,000 20mm cartridges, 300 AIM-9X Sidewinder missiles, 1,000 2,000-pound GBU-31B V3 Joint Direct Attack Munitions -- and some are not: 193 F-110-GE-129 Improved Performance Engines, 338 Joint Helmet Mounted Cueing Systems, 462 AN/AVS-9 Night Vision Goggles. Defense folks suggest the need for accountability of bullets and bombs -- and how they are packed on pallets -- is to blame for so many zeroes in the kinetic column.

the harbingers of far broader actions: Nothing less than the expansion of the
West’s war in Afghanistan into Pakistan with the ultimate goal of seizing the
nation’s nuclear weapons.

FDI drop: It's Pakatan fault, says Mukhriz
By Rahmah Ghazali
KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Minister of International Trade Mukhriz Mahathir today turned the tables on the opposition, blaming them for the significant decline of Malaysia's Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) as reported by United Nation's World Investment Report.
The report, which was released last July, recorded a critical decrease in FDI for the year 2009, leaving Malaysia trailing behind regional countries.
The report has led to finger-pointing with many blaming the government and its arm Malaysian Industrial Development Authority (Mida) for its failure to attract foreign investors.
