Borneo Post October 26, 2011, Wednesday

WAN ZAIN

Malaysian Deputy Tourism Minister sees red over Fireflyz service termination

Deputy minister sees red over Firefly closure

Borneo Post October 23, 2011, Sunday
KUCHING: The termination of Firefly service to Sarawak has caused the state to lose about 4,000 visiting Korean golfers to Johor.
Deputy Tourism Minister Datuk Dr James Dawos expressed his huge disappointment with the airline for their refusal to provide charter flights for the golfers to Sarawak for their golf holidays between December and February.
“More than 5,000 Korean golfers actually wanted to come and play in Kuching but because of the problems with the flights, only 2,500 will come and another 4,000 will go to Johor,” he said yesterday after a press conference held at Sarawak Club on the reconstruction of James Brooke cottage at Mount Serembu.
Dawos added that he contacted Firefly to discuss the possibilities of providing charter flights for the golfers but the airline declined to do so.

ISRAEL AND LIBYA: PREPARING AFRICA FOR THE "CLASH OF CIVILIZATIONS"

Mahdi Darius Nazemroaya

Under the Obama Administration the United States has expanded the "long war" into Africa. Barack Hussein Obama, the so-called "Son of Africa" has actually become one of Africa's worst enemies. Aside from his continued support of dictators in Africa, the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast) was unhinged under his watch. The division of Sudan was publicly endorsed by the White House before the referendum, Somalia has been further destabilized, Libya has been viciously attacked by NATO, and U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) is going into full swing.
The war in Libya is just the start of a new cycle of external military adventurism inside Africa. The U.S. now wants more military bases inside Africa. France has also announced that it has the right to militarily intervene anywhere in Africa where there are French citizens and its interests are at risk. NATO is also fortifying its positions in the Red Sea and off the coast of Somalia.

As disarray and turmoil are once again uprooting Africa with external intervention, Israel sits silently in the background. Tel Aviv has actually been deeply involved in the new cycle of turmoil, which is tied to its Yinon Plan to reconfigure its strategic surrounding. This reconfiguration process is based on a well established technique of creating sectarian divisions which eventually will effectively neutralize target states or result in their dissolution.

Many of the problems afflicting the contemporary areas of Eastern Europe, Central Asia, Southwest Asia, South Asia, East Asia, Africa, and Latin America are actually the result of the deliberate triggering of regional tensions by external powers. Sectarian division, ethno-linguistic tension, religious differences, and internal violence have been traditionally exploited by the United States, Britain, and France in various parts of the globe. Iraq, Sudan, Rwanda, and Yugoslavia are merely a few recent examples of this strategy of "divide and conquer" being used to bring nations to their knees.

Who is the CEO of MAS?

Is Datuk Kamarudin Meranun the defacto CEO of MAS?

It would appear that the defacto CEO of MAS is Datuk Kamarudin Meranun, who is also the Deputy CEO of AirAsia Bhd and recently appointed Non-Executive Director of MAS after the secret MAS – AirAsia share swap was inked on 9-8-2011.  Yours truly was surprised that a Non-Executive Director of MAS was speaking as though he is the CEO of MAS.  Even the powerful En Mohammed Rashdan Yusof, the whiz kid and Tan Sri Azman Mokhtar‘s former business partner in BinaFikir Sdn Bhd, is extremely tame after the appointment of En Ahmad Jauhari as the CEO of MAS.

En Ahmad Jauhari: Are you sure you are the CEO of MAS?

Khazanah fallacies on MAS/Airasia share swap

7 REASONS WHY KHAZANAH MUST NOT UNDERTAKE THE SHARE SWAP BETWEEN MAS AND AIRASIA - PART 2 - The article by troubleshooter2011@gamil.com

1. MAS IS A NATIONAL ASSET JUST LIKE PETRONAS AND TNB

MAS’ primary purpose aside from performing its aviation role is to, as mentioned in my earlier piece, promote Malaysia as a tourism destination, to facilitate trade between countries under a G to G environment and also to facilitate outreach to new destination for strategic and commercial purposes. Because of this it should NEVER be in the hands of an entrepreneur with a vested interest in a similar industry let alone any other entrepreneur. The problem started even with the appointment of an entrepreneur many years ago because the government failed to differentiate the nature of the asset. What transpired was that entrepreneur had to think of ways and means to offset his individual debts in taking ownership of the airline and therefore may have compromised the asset because of this. A similar pattern is developing now with Air Asia where the entrepreneur will undertake actions to best serve his purpose. If looking at SIA, where it’s successful is because it recognises this fact. Therefore the running of the company is left to professionals who have no vested interest and can be hired or fired based on the KPI’s given to them. This also allows for the airline to be run by the ‘best man for the job’. What you need is a CEO with an entrepreneurial mind, professional conduct and culture. With proper assessment, there are many who could step up to the plate. MAS is a national asset and should be treated as one just like Petronas and TNB and other strategic assets that need to remain under government control and directions as it also performs its corporate social responsibility to the country and its citizens.

2. THE COLLABORATION FOR COMMON BENEFIT CAN STILL CONTINUE WHEN THE SHARE SWAP IS REVERSED

America's Conquest of Africa: The Roles of France and Israel

France and Israel: Is Washington Outsourcing its Dirty Work in Africa?
Africa is just one international front for an expanding system of empire. The mechanisms of a real global system of empire are at work in this regard. Washington is acting through NATO and its allies in Africa. Each one of Washington’s allies and satellites has a specific role to play in this global system of empire.
Tel Aviv has played a very active role on the African continent. Israel was a major supporter of South Africa under the apartheid regime.

Tel Aviv also helped smuggle arms into Sudan and East Africa to balkanize that sizeable African nation while contributing to the destabilization of East Africa.

The Israelis have been very active in Kenya and Uganda. Israel has been present wherever there were conflicts, including those pertaining to blood diamonds.

Israel is now working with Washington to establish total hegemony over the African continent. Tel Aviv is actively involved -- through its business ties and intelligence operations -- in securing the contacts and agreements required by Washington for the extension of its interests in Africa. One of Washington’s major objectives is  to disrupt the development of Chinese influence in Africa. Israel and Israeli think-tanks have also played a major role in shaping the U.S. geo-stratagem in Africa.

Libya and the Big Lie: Using Human Rights Organizations to Launch Wars

The war against Libya is built on fraud. The United Nations Security Council passed two resolutions against Libya on the basis of unproven claims, specifically that Colonel Muammar Qaddafi was killing his own people in Benghazi and Libya. The claim in its exact form was that Qaddafi had ordered Libyan forces to kill 6,000 people in Benghazi as well as in other parts of the country. These claims were widely disseminated, but always vaguely explained. It was on the basis of this claim that Libya was referred to the U.N. Security Council at U.N. Headquarters in New York City and kicked out of the U.N. Human Rights Council in Geneva.

False claims about African mercenary armies in Libya and about jet attacks on civilians were also used in a broad media campaign against Libya. These two claims have been sidelined and have become more and more murky. The massacre claims, however, were used in a legal, diplomatic, and military framework to justify NATO’s war on Libya.

Using Human Rights as a Pretext for War: The LLHR and its Unproven Claims
One of the main sources for the claim that Qaddafi was killing his own people is the Libyan League for Human Rights (LLHR). The LLHR was actually pivotal to getting the U.N. involved through its specific claims in Geneva. On February 21, 2011 the LLHR got the 70 other non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to sent letters to the President Obama, E.U. High Representative Catherine Ashton., and the U.N. Secretary-General Ban-ki Moon demanding international action against Libya invoking the “Responsibility to Protect” doctrine. Only 25 members of this coalition actually assert that they are human rights groups.

Adakah 'Competition Act 2010' tidak melindungi rakyat berpendatan rendah Sarawak?

Dr Wafi: MAS – AirAsia share swap contravened Competition Act?

It was most worrying to see what had taken place in MAS after the inking of the secret MAS – AirAsia share swap on 9-8-2011.

The glaring events after the said secret share swap were as follows:

  • the announcement of changing Firefly’s original objectives and plans under the old management of MAS headed by YM Tengku Azmil, who has since “resigned”;

  • decision to cancel many Firefly full load flights during the recent Raya season;

  • decision to terminate profitable routes from JB to Kuching and Kota Kinabalu from 15-9-2011;

  • decision to terminate MAS profitable route to Bandung, Indonesia, from 4-10-2011;

  • decision to pay RM18 million to sponsor QPR home jersey for two years when MAS was supposed to be in deep financial state; and

  • others that have not been made known or exposed yet.

Let dept know if you want your NCR land surveyed — Adenan

Posted on October 12, 2011, Wednesday
KAPIT: Minister of Special Functions Tan Sri Adenan Satem has advised NCR land owners here to apply to Land and Survey Department if they want their lands to be surveyed under the government’s New NCR Perimeter Survey Initiative.
At the same time, he told them to ensure there must be no disputes over the lands, and put pegs to indicate the boundaries of their lands to facilitate the survey by the department.
“The copy of the gazette and the plan indicating the precise boundary of an NCR communal area that has been surveyed
must be kept properly in the longhouse to prove ownership,” he said at the Open Day of Land and Survey Department at the civic centre here on Tuesday morning.
He reminded the department to pay compensation to claimants within the shortest time possible.
“Don’t delay. Settle the amount that was agreed and don’t interfere in disputes. Let the court decide,” he said.
At the function, Minister in the Chief Minister’s Office gave out gazettes and plans indicating the precise boundary of NCR communal areas that have been surveyed to eight Tuai Rumah from Kapit and Song districts.
He also presented land compensations amounting to RM3,201,193.56 to 42 out of 63 claimants for land acquired by the government for development projects.
