SIBU: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Sibu will be holding an Aidifitri Open House on September 28 at RH Hotel here, according to organising chairman Datuk Awang Bemee.
He disclosed that Chief Minister Pehin Sri Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud, who is also the President of PBB, will be the guest of honour at the annual event which will begin at 7.30pm.
Bemee said that many items have been lined up for the event, which is expected to be attended by the various races and communities in Sibu.
“As has been the tradition here, we have invited many people from various races within Sibu to come and celebrate with us, to show our good culture to celebrate the Aidilfitri as a big family,” he said.
Bemee, who is also state assemblyman for Nangka, also announced that some 23 longhouses in his constituency would be the beneficiaries of Minor Rural Project (MRP) funds totaling RM80,000. The MRP funds would be presented to these longhouses in the very near future.
“I will be going over to hand over these MRP funds to the representatives of the 23 longhouses very soon,” he said.
He pointed out that the disbursement of the MRP funds proved how the present government time and time again showed its concern and care for the welfare of the longhouse folks.
“The distribution of the MRP funds is one of the many proofs that the present Barisan Nasional government cares for the welfare of all the people, including folk in the longhouses,” he stressed.
