LUNDU: Seventy-five landowners at Kampung Tanah Hitam in sub-district of Sematan, received land titles from Special Advisor in the Chief Minister’s Department Tan Sri Datuk Amar Haji Adenan Satem.

The land titles were presented during the Ramah Tamah Aidilfitri gathering organised by the Lundu District Council and government agencies at the Lundu Communty Hall last Saturday night.

At the function, Adenan, who is also Tanjong Datu assemblyman, also presented Minor Rural Project (MRP) grants totalling RM250,000 to 43 recipients.

Speaking at the event, Adenan hoped that the ‘open house’ practice would be continued in future, including during Chinese New Year, Gawai Dayak, Christmas and other festivals.

According to Adenan, the organisation of such gathering is synonymous with the multi-racial community in the state and the open house concept needs to be practised to ensure continued racial harmony in future.

Meanwhile, Lundu District Officer Azmi Bujang, who is also the organising chairman, said the gathering was held on a ‘Garden Party’ concept to reflect the ‘kampung’ atmosphere and environment.

The gathering also featured ‘creative stall’ competition for all food and drink stalls taking part, dances, singing and other entertainment.
