SARIKEI: Outsiders have no right to interfere with the internal matters of PBB, said newly-minted Belawai assemblyman Datu Len Talif Salleh.
He said he felt that all friends of PBB within the Barisan Nasional fold should display “a sense of sincerity and mutual respect” towards the party.
“Friends from other BN component parties should pledge their love and loyalty towards each other. They can quarrel with the opposition parties when provoked but always exercise care not to hurt their friends under any circumstances,” Len said during a thanksgiving dinner on Tuesday to commemorate the BN’s victory in Belawai in the recently-concluded polls.
Len was taking a swipe at Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin and MCA vice president Senator Gan Ping Sieu who had recently demanded PBB president Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud to step down as Chief Minister.
“Such uncalled for statements should not have come from leaders of any BN component parties as it contravened the spirit of the coalition,” Len stressed.
He added that everyone should know their limit when it comes to making comments on other parties. They should also get their facts right.
In the April 16 polls, PBB contested in 35 constituencies and won all of them convincingly. This shows that party
unity and support for Taib is as strong as ever.
Among the 200 people present at the dinner were Len’s wife Datin Asiah Awai, Sarikei Resident Michael Dawi Alli, PBB Belawai Wanita chief Dayang Raoyah, deputy chairman Zawawi Embong, Joslee Rambli representing Tanjung Manis MP and community leaders.
