KUCHING: Chief Minister Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud is confident that state BN will win more than two thirds of the 31 seats to be contested at the coming 13th general election.
“Generally speaking, we are quite confident of getting good results by winning more than two thirds of the seats,” he said.
He was met by reporters after attending a meeting to brief Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin on state BN component parties’ preparation for the coming election at PBB headquarters in Jalan Demak on Sunday night.
The state BN chief, however, refused to elaborate further on what was discussed during the closed door meeting and left the building as soon as the meeting ended.
Meanwhile, state BN secretary general Datuk Dr Stephen Rundi said Muhyiddin was satisfied and happy over the state BN’s preparation for the election.
According to Dr Rundi, the meeting, which lasted for more than two hours, saw representatives of each component party presenting facts and figures which were important to BN’s strategies in winning the parliamentary seats.
“We will hear a lot of rumours as the election nears and it is normal during the election period, but the bottom line is statistics (presented by us) can never lie,” he said when asked on state BN’s chances in the election.
On the list of candidates, Dr Rundi refused to elaborate, pointing out that it was still a secret and would be known during the right time.
