Kerajaan Sarawak meminta pohon maaf dan pampasan dari MP Bandar Kuching

State govt demands apology, RM100m compensation from MP

Borneo Post on March 9, 2013, Saturday
KUCHING: The State Government, through the State Attorney-General’s Chambers, has demanded State DAP secretary Chong Chieng Jen to issue a public apology and unconditional withdrawal of all statements in relation to the leaftlet titled `The Budget Black Hole: Where Has Our RM11,000,000,000 Gone?’.
In a letter dated March 4, 2013, and signed by State Attorney-General Datu Abdul Razak Tready, the state government
also demanded Chong to pay not less than RM100 million in damages as compensation and the apology by Chong must be in terms approved by Abdul Razak.
Chong, who is a practising lawyer, Bandar Kuching MP and Kota Sentosa assemblyman, yesterday said he would not apologise, withdraw nor pay the compensation.
Also present were DAP Socialist Youth (Dapsy) vice chief and Padungan assemblyman Wong King Wei, who is also a lawyer.
Chong said he would leave this issue to the DAP legal team.
He insisted that the figures stated in the leaflet were all based on the State Budgets and that the state government had a duty
to disclose the identities of the so-called approved agencies.
Chong is also required to “provide a written undertaking NOT to repeat or publish any of the said statements or allegations and to immediately refrain by yourself and through others under your direction from distribution of the said DAP leaflets bearing the said allegations”.
Chong had been asked to reply to the chambers within 10 days from the date of the letter, “failing which, appropriate legal action would be instituted against you for libel and other legal remedies”.

  1. Chiong Chieng Jen ini memang kurang ajar. Mulut dan hati tiada buat lain berbohong dan memfitnah saja. Orang macam ini tidak kira betul atau salah. Janji mencaci pemimpin-pemimpin BN.
