PBB Simunjan stands firmly behind CM

KUCHING: Pledges for Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud to remain as Chief Minister continued yesterday.

This time around it was PBB Simunjan voicing their support for Taib, who is also state BN chairman and PBB president.

Simunjan assemblyman Mohd Naroden Majais, who signed the declaration of support, said it was because of Taib’s leadership and ability to govern the state that prompted the members to support him.

“Taib’s politics of development has proven to be very effective and this is the main reason why the state should want him to continue to lead, said Naroden, who is also Assistant Minister of Planning and Resource Management.

Naroden added that the people of Simunjan were very clear on this matter and united in their stand on Taib.

He added: “As long as he remains fit to serve the people, we do not see any other reason for him to quit.”

The statement ‘A memorandum of declaration to pledge loyalty and support to the leadership of Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud, Chief Minster and PBB President’ reads: “We, the PBB Simunjan branch who represents all party members and community has pledged and promise to remain loyal in our support to the Chief Minister.

“Therefore, we believe that the service and leadership of Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud is very much needed to lead Sarawak for further development. We will remain strong as we stand behind the Chief Minister to face all the challenges and outside threats that could disrupt the peace and harmony of the people of Sarawak.”

Naroden, who is also Simunjan PBB chief, highlighted that the statement was followed with a petition signed by supporters from the Simunjan district.
