KAPIT: The United Chinese Association (UCA) Kapit has voiced its support for the Dong Zong (United Chinese School Committees Association of Malaysia) rally last Sunday.
The ‘325 rally’ in Kajang, Selangor was held to highlight the grievances of Chinese-medium schools.
UCA Kapit chairman Ma Tian Ho said the association supported efforts to defend the integrity and independence of Chinese-medium schools nationwide.
“We support the action of Dong Zong to organise the ‘325 rally’ to demonstrate support for Chinese-medium schools nationwide. On the part of UCA Kapit, we are concerned about the human resources development of the only Chinese-aided primary school here — SJK Hock Lam — with the posting of non-Mandarin speaking clerical staff to the school,” he said at UCA Kapit’s annual general meeting (AGM) on Wednesday evening.
Ma pointed out that since former headmistress Tey Hock Hiong retired over a year ago, no replacement has been sent to the school.
“The Education Department should act fast to either appoint a new headmaster or upgrade the acting headmaster to administrate the school to ensure the smooth implementation of daily work,” he added.
