Warga Padungan : Chong Chieng Jen tidak peduli jenayah berdarah kawasan di wakilinya

DAP Financier Lau Wee Kiong

Prioritise security in Padungan, its rep told

Boreneo Post March 25, 2012, Sunday

RECOVERING: Nasrihizam (right) visiting Azlan in hospital yesterday.
KUCHING: Elected representatives of Padungan and Bandar Kuching should make sure their areas, especially Padungan, are safe for both locals and tourists.
PBB Padungan information chief Nasrihizam Morshidi said the attack on self-styled social activist Azlan Abdullah on March 14 happened in their area.
“It’s not a matter of whether their issue with Azlan is personal or non-personal,” he said, pointing out that an assault along a well frequented area such as Padungan was a problem that needed to be acted on by the assemblyman or MP.
Nasri urged the police to beef up their presence in Kuching, especially in Padungan, a prime area in the golden triangle.
“It should be a safe area for people yet this happened in broad daylight,” he said, adding that he would see what he could do in his capacity as PBB information chief.
Nasri said this when visiting Azlan at Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) yesterday.
He also called upon Chinese-Muslim bodies or associations to come out in support of a brother in need.
“I ask that they come forward to help our brother, not necessarily just with money but to voice out the problem we have here in this city,” he said.
Azlan, 52, said nobody intervened when he was attacked by masked men with sharp weapons. He was lying on
the sidewalk bleeding for about 25 minutes before a doctor from a nearby clinic rushed over to help.
“I screamed for help, but nobody helped,” said Azlan.
“There is something wrong with society if nobody wanted to help.”

Get those responsible for assaulting social activist’

Borneo Post March 21, 2012, Wednesday

VICTIM OF ASSAULT: Azlan talks to Abang Abdul Aziz (right) who visited him yesterday.
KUCHING: PBB’s new media unit or Unit Media Baru (UMB) hopes the police get to the bottom of the attack on social activist Azlan Abdullah.
As the attack happened in broad daylight and in a public area, they were concerned about public safety, PBB UMB Deputy Coordinator Abang Abdul Aziz Abang Raup told The Borneo Post.
“Azlan could have died,” said Abdul Abdul Aziz, adding that the activist was a brave man for voicing out his concerns on social injustice and criminal wrongdoings.
“The people accused by Azlan have the right to sue him if what he says is wrong, not do this to him instead.”
He was accompanied by SUPP UMB chief Gregory Tan when visiting Azlan in hospital yesterday.
Abdul Aziz, who is also UMB BN Sarawak secretary, said the visit was to give moral support and see how they could help Azlan.
Azlan, 52, was attacked by several masked men with sharp weapons, resulting in slash wounds to his head, arms and legs in Padungan around 11.30am last Wednesday.
The attack was over in less than a minute and the men fled in a car fitted with false licence plates.
The self-styled activist, who staged a one-man protest along Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman and other parts of the city, is believed to be behind the distribution of pamphlets alleging wrongdoings of local political, business and community leaders.
Azlan had previously lodged police reports, claiming to have been threatened and assaulted by unknown individuals.

 Borneo Post
KUCHING: Self-styled social activist Azlan Abdullah was hospitalised yesterday after he was slashed in broad daylight in what appeared to be a pre-meditated attack.
The 52-year-old Azlan – who claims to be fighting against social injustice and criminal wrongdoings – was sitting alone outside a coffee shop in Padungan when the incident occurred around 11.30am.
It was believed that he had just taken his seat at a table along the five-foot-way in front of the shop when he turned and saw several masked men armed with sharp weapons rushing towards him.
He immediately got up and ran into a next-door shop, but ended up being slashed on his head, both arms and leg by the attackers, who then fled in a car which was later established by police as having been fitted with false license plates.
Immediately following the attack, which lasted barely minute, members of the public called the police and ambulance to send the badly-wounded Azlan to the hospital.

Dr M to PAS: Why not make Kit Siang president?

Syed Jaymal Zahiid | February 29, 2012
In his usual acerbic style, the former prime minister mocks the Islamic party for saying it is prepared to give senior positions to non-Muslims.
PUTRAJAYA: Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad today mocked PAS’ claim that it is ready to give senior positions to non-Muslims, saying the party should then appoint DAP stalwart Lim Kit Siang as its president.
“What’s wrong with this? I’m sure there is nothing wrong with it as Kit Siang will surely protect Islam,” he told reporters here.
He said PAS, which claimed to be champions of Islam and was quick to label its rivals as “infidels” in a bid to win votes, was being hypocritical on the issue.
“They used to call us infidels but now they want non-Muslim leaders. Now they are not only co-operating (with non-Muslims), they want non-Muslim leaders.
“They should make Kit Siang their president. After all, he is a very patriotic Malaysian,” said the octogenarian.
Lim, who led the opposition during Mahathir’s rule, was and is still being accused of being anti- Malay and Islam.
Yesterday, PAS central working committee member Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said the party is ready to accept non-Muslims in senior positions including as deputy president.
The Kuala Selangor MP said the party was prepared to emulate Egypt’s Freedom and Justice Party, which appointed Coptic Christian intellectual Rafiq Habib as its vice-president last year.

A new PAS?

Dzulkefly, one of the more progressive leaders in PAS, said the move was not against Islam.
He said the idea could be implemented as it was “only an administrative matter” that is allowed.
“Islam can address change for intellectual renewal. Islam can withstand the challenges of time,” said the PAS researcher.
However, Dzulkefly’s suggestion has not been verified by his party’s top leadership and the syura council which controls the direction of the party.
Although the idea may be accepted by the progressive faction of PAS, analysts are likely to shoot down any suggestion of a positive response from the conservatives within the party.
Dzulkefly’s idea is consistent with PAS’ effort to win non-Muslim votes, beginning with the party’s move to tone its Islamic state agenda and fight for an all-inclusive “welfare state”.
It is also mooting to field non-Muslim candidates in the coming general election.
The bold shift in policies by PAS, however, has exposed the party to accusations by Umno that the former had “sold out” and sacrificed its Islamic principles for political mileage.
PAS was also accused of being a DAP stooge and that being a Malay Muslim party, it would be forced to follow the instructions of the latter should Pakatan Rakyat come to power.
Mahathir attempted to reinforce that suggestion today. He said that since DAP leaders are now very good at questioning the Quran, they should be allowed to lead the Islamist party.

PBB has plenty of winnable candidates - YB Datuk Amar Abang Johari

Borneo Post March 12, 2012, Monday
KUCHING: PBB will have no problem fielding winnable candidates even if a snap general election was to be called by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
Its deputy president Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg said the party already had a list of capable candidates in hand.
“I do not know the final list. You will need to ask the Chief Minister (Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud) on this matter,” he told reporters after the closing and presentation of Malaysia Book of Record awards for the longest ‘Zikir’ session at Masjid Darul Na’im, Kampung Lintang here yesterday
Abang Johari, who is also Minister of Housing and Minister of Tourism, said he had no idea when the 13th general election would be called.

PKR Rafizi Ramli berbohong untuk memfitnah PM dan megelirukan rakyat

Engagement Reception: PM Office Said Rafizi’s Allegation Is Ridiculous

    March 9, 2012

KUALA LUMPUR – Strategy Director of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), Rafizi Ramli made allegations that the engagement reception for the daughter to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak which was held on June 17 last year used the government’s money.
Rafizi claims that the reception cost RM409,767 and the bill was addressed to the Prime Minister Office (PMO).
However, a source close with the Prime Minister Office told Mynewshub.my that the expenditure amount for the Prime Minister’s daughter’s engagement as alleged by Rafizi is a fabrication since the actual cost is lower than that.
“Rafizi is lying since PM did not use the government’s money to sponsor the reception.
“The actual cost involved was fully borne by Datuk Seri Najib and other family members (his siblings) without involving the government’s money,” he said when contacted here today.
The source said, there was certainly a bill sent to the PM office but not to be paid by the government.
The source also said, the bill was addressed directly to the Prime Minister himself because since earlier he decided not to have the government’s money involved in his personal reception.
“Just because the bill was addressed to the Prime Minister Office does not indicate that the government’s money has been used in that engagement matter,” said the source.
In connection with that, the source demand that Rafizi come forward to contact the company that was involved in handling the reception.
“Information from that company can be used as reference by Rafizi to know who paid for the reception and how much was spent,” the source remarked.
The source also added, as the Strategy Director of PKR Rafizi should be ashamed for making false allegation and blunt statements without appropriate proof.
Meanwhile, Mynewshub.my also understood that the Prime Minister Office will release an official statement regarding the matter to counter wild allegation made by Rafizi. -Mynewshub.my

Who Is The REAL Nuclear Threat in the Middle East?

Tensions, threats, and the danger of a U.S. and Israeli attack on Iran are escalating dangerously. The U.S. and Israel say Iran presents a grave danger because it is enriching uranium and—they claim—may be developing the technical capability to build nuclear weapons. “We’re not going to take any options off the table,” President Obama said in an interview broadcast during the Super Bowl, “and I’ve been very clear that we’re going to do everything we can to prevent Iran from getting a nuclear weapon...”

Nuclear weapons in anyone’s hands are dangerous. And Iran’s Islamic Republic is a repressive and reactionary theocracy driven by its own interests to increase its influence and standing (even while those aspirations are well within the operation of the current oppressive world order). But since the U.S. and Israel have raised the issue of nuclear weapons, it’s only fair to look at what the facts actually show about just who is the biggest nuclear threat to the planet by far.

How much does Iran spend on its military?
$7,044,000,000.

How much does the U.S. spend on its military?
$687,105,000,000 (not counting wars in Iraq and Afghanistan). This is nearly 100 times what Iran spends.

How many military bases does Iran have outside its borders?
None.

How many bases does the U.S. have overseas?
Officially there are 737 U.S. military bases in 132 of the 190 member states of the United Nations. The actual number may be more than 1,000.

How many nuclear weapons does Iran have?
None.

How many nuclear weapons does Israel have?
Between 75 and 200 nuclear warheads.

How many nuclear weapons does the U.S. have?
Approximately 5,113 active and inactive nuclear warheads and approximately 3,500 warheads retired and awaiting dismantlement. The 5,113 active and inactive nuclear warhead stockpile includes 1,790 deployed strategic warheads, approximately 500 operational tactical weapons, and approximately 2,645 inactive warheads.

Iraq: Twenty One Years of Crimes Against Humanity

These diaries are dedicated to the people of Iraq and to all others who have suffered the crippling effect of sanctions." (Nuha al-Radi, 1941-2004.)
With current US-led plans to remodel (read annihilate) the remaining Middle East, the 1991, twenty eight country attack on Iraq’s just 27 million people, where, arguably it all started, has largely dropped from Western consciousness, though certainly not that of Iraqis.
As the first wave of missiles erased thirty years of a progress, which had made Iraq a largely modern, prosperous nation - and Cruise missiles rained down from US war ships in the Indian Ocean - on16th January 1991, President George H.W. Bush told America: “We have no argument with the people of Iraq. Indeed, for the innocents caught in this conflict, we pray for their safety … But even as planes of the multinational forces attack Iraq, I prefer to think of peace, not war.”
March, marks the twenty first anniversary of the end of the forty two day, apocalyptic pulverization, in which over eighty million pounds of explosives were dropped. The: “whole country became collateral damage.”(i)

So, apparently, this ustaz, who had decided to join PKR instead of PAS, was alleged to have been caught in an uncompromising situation with another man’s wife in a hotel room in Kuantan recently. The accused is a communications director in the Selangor Mentri Besar's office who is a former law lecturer in International Islamic University Malaysia (UIA) and a graduate of the esteemed Al-Azhar University in Egypt.
by Django Setemolya, Malaysian Digest

By now, we have gone past the conception that all religious figures are morally uncorrupted. After all, scandals involving religious figures of various faiths that have been exposed in recent years we have realized even more now that there’s more to the headgears and robes and whatnot than meets the eye. So what more if the person in question is a religious figure and a politician and a PKR leader at that (alright, to be fair, Umno has more than its fair share of sex scandals too).
Incidentally, my mother-in-law also said that the ustaz recites the Quran “beautifully”. But ‘ugly’ would more appropriately describe the situation the politician ustaz is embroiled in, whether he’s innocent or otherwise.

We are not certain yet to whether the ustaz is guilty or not. He has denied the allegation claiming he is a victim of a plan to “trap and embarrass” him. At first you’d want to believe him but, unfortunately for him, there are suspicious elements from the news reports on the case as well as his background.

Firstly, why hasn’t he lodge a police report over the incident where he claimed to had gotten a good beating from the mob of 20 men brought along by the husband of the woman he was with? It would be the first thing someone would do if they had been wrongly accused of misdoing (after getting hospital treatment) and getting whacked.

Secondly, why did he make himself vulnerable by allowing himself to be in the same room as the woman? Couldn’t he just settle everything in the lobby, or better still, meet the woman at a safer place? Being a known religious personality and a politician is more than enough to draw public attention especially at the wee hours of that Saturday morning. He really should have known better being a public figure and a former ISA detainee and all.

Thirdly, Kosmo! reported that investigations revealed that the hotel staff denied that the ustaz was beaten up as he claimed. According to security director of the hotel, its CCTV footage showed there were no signs of 20 men entering the hotel at the time the incident allegedly happened that fateful day around 2am to 3am and none of the workers saw a group of men entering the hotel.

Fourthly, and this is an arguable point by the way, the guy has two wives. He got married to his second wife immediately after being released from ISA. (I’ll leave it at that).

MOF, correct Khazanah mistakes which are making low-income Sabah and Sarawakians suffer

MR. PM, CAN WE PLEASE STOP THIS NONSENSE?

http://mastroubleshooters.blogspot.com/

7 REASONS WHY THE PRIME MINISTER SHOULD STEP IN NOW AND
FACILITATE KHAZANAH TO REVERSE THE SHARE SWAP
BETWEEN MAS AND AIR ASIA

1.            THE SHARE SWAP EXERCISE WAS AN OBVIOUS CONFLICT OF INTEREST
AND IF THE GOVERNMENT CANNOT SEE THAT, THEN WE HAVE SERIOUS GOVERNANCE ISSUES IN OUR INSTITUTIONS OF INVESTMENT.
Most citizens and all that are watching this fiasco know how seriously flawed the share swap deal is. For KHAZANAH and the government to try to justify its merits, is taking the rakyat for being fools and would further erode the confidence in the ruling government and its ability to make the right decisions. This will really test the resolve of the Prime Minister in making tough and correct decisions which would gain the respect of the people and augur well for the country in terms of its ability to admit wrongs and correct them.
2.      MAS WAS ‘PROFITABLE’ FOR 4 YEARS IN A ROW FROM 2007 – 2010 AND SO WAS AIR ASIA. WHY DO YOU NEED TO DO A KNEE JERK SHARE SWAP JUST BECAUSE THE FY2011 RESULTS WAS NOT POSITIVE?
The share swap was being done after the announcement of a bad 1st half year results and was done in haste to supposedly save MAS. What is ironic is that MAS had reported ‘profits’ from year 2007 – 2010 and therefore if we were to use the profitability angle, why should KHAZANAH do this deal at all. The issue was of course of cash-flow and if we think that Air Asia was good then we have not read their accounts correctly. They too have cash-flow problems, if not now but in the very near future so it was obvious that this deal was done with knee jerk reaction and timed to take advantage of the reporting of bad results from MAS to undertake the share swap. It looks very sinister and opportunistic.
3.      IN ANY CORPORATE EXERCISE, THE ONLY WAY TO HAVE A COMPETITOR ON YOUR BOARD IS IF THE COMPETITOR PAYS MONEY TO ACQUIRE SHARES AND EITHER MERGES OR BUYS OVER A COMPANY VIA A FRIENDLY OR HOSTILE TAKEOVER.
KHAZANAH must be INSANE to think that to save MAS is to invite its ‘commercial enemy’ to come on its Board and be privy to all its trade secrets and strategies in order to help it. In business you either fight to outdo your competitors or exit the business if you cannot fight. Otherwise, in this case of MAS being a public listed company, either a friendly or hostile takeover of the company is done via the acquiring company mopping up shares from the stock market to a level where it can trigger a general offer.
THIS HAS TO BE DONE BY WAY OF BUYING UP SHARES OF A CERTAIN PERCENTAGE IN CASH AND NEVER THROUGH A SHARE SWAP WHERE MANIPULATION AND COLLUSION CAN HAPPEN ESPECIALLY IN THIS CASE WHEN THE ACQUIRER AND THE ACQUIREE GOT TOGETHER SECRETLY TO NEGOTIATE A CORPORATE EXERCISE OF PUBLIC INTEREST.
Any sane person can see this is an injustice and abuse of process so IF KHAZANAH DOES NOT REVERSE THE SHARE SWAP, THE BIGGER IMPACT WILL BE THE POLITICAL AND ECONOMIC RAMIFICATIONS TO THE GOVERNMENT FOR NOT UNDOING THIS BAD DEAL.
4.  KHAZANAH HAS FAILED TO SAFEGUARD PUBLIC INTEREST. IF THE AUSTRALIAN NEWSPAPERS CAN ADMIT A MISTAKE ON PRINTING AN ERRONEOUS REPORT, THAN FOR US TO BECOME A TRULY FIRST CLASS COUNTRY, KHAZANAH SHOULD ADMIT ITS MISTAKE ON THE SHARE SWAP AND REVERSE IT.
KHAZANAH has a duty to protect public funds and national net worth of the country. By continuing to press on, KHAZANAH has failed its duty and charter to the people who are relying on officers of the highest integrity to protect and enhance the country’s net worth and assets.
If the Australian press can admit their reporting mistakes and reverse or print a retraction, there is nothing wrong with KHAZANAH ADMITTING ITS MISTAKE AND REVERSING THE SHARE SWAP AND RETURNING THE ASSET TO THE PEOPLE OF MALAYSIA. By not doing so, when there is clear evidence of questionable intent, action and vested interest, shows we are moving towards being a banana republic where we can justify anything that we do whether right or wrong.
5.     KHAZANAH HAS CREATED A MAJOR INVESTMENT BLUNDER BY A CREATING A PRECEDENCE WHERE A NATIONAL ASSET CAN BE COMPROMISED AND IN ANY OTHER INCIDENT COMPROMISING A NATIONAL ASSET IS AN ACT OF TREASON.
What KHAZANAH has done is to create a dangerous precedence where an entrepreneur can acquire a national asset without having to put a single sen or RM on the table. If this is the case, since there are many, for example oil and gas entrepreneurs, can they come to the government and say that they want to swap 30% of their company for 10% of Petronas?
In any other deal once an entity is classified as a national strategic asset, it cannot be owned by individuals or entrepreneurs.
6.      IT IS TIME FOR THE COUNTRY TO APPOINT TRUE PROFESSIONALS TO RUN COMPANIES AND STOP THE ‘4TH FLOOR BOYS MENTALITY’ AND RESTORE CORPORATE ORDER IN GLCS BY NOT HAVING ANYMORE PARACHUTE CEOS AND YOUNG UPSTARTS RUNNING OUR NATIONAL ASSETS.
In order for the country to progress, every sector of industry must be run by professionals who have invested their time and energy to be the best in their industry. They should be promoted within their industry where they obtained the seat of power by garnering and earning the respect of their peers, staff and industry watchers. True successful companies globally invest heavily on succession planning to ensure the best from within them rises to the top to lead their ‘troops’ into the ‘ commercial wars’.
We have to stop parachuting individuals into so many GLC CEO positions that caused a whole generation of professionals to be bypassed by this practise. Most if not all of the current young upstarts come from either rich families or ‘academic’ background and have little appreciation of what happens in the engine room of most industries. They will impose their ideas not through sound and tested innovations, but by abusing the power of their positions as they will hide their lack of knowledge through coercion. These parachute CEOs have no track record in the industry.
IF THE GOVERNMENT IS INTERESTED TO KNOW WHY THERE IS A BRAIN DRAIN IN THE COUNTRY, THIS IS A MAJOR CAUSE OF IT, I.E. WHEN TRUE PROFESSIONALS CAN BE BYPASSED AND USURPED BY OTHERS WHO DO NOT HAVE THE CREDENTIALS IN THEIR INDUSTRY.
7.        KHAZANAH SHOULD STOP MEDDLING IN OPERATIONAL COMPANIES WHEN THEY HAVE NO CLUE AND ARE INCOMPETENT TO MAKE DECISIONS.
KHAZANAH needs to stop making incompetent decisions, period. Meddling in operational issues when you have already appointed a CEO whose day to day work is to eat and breathe the company that they are leading is tantamount to undermining corporate hierarchy. Should a change of strategy be needed then a change of CEOs would do the trick but make sure you select someone from within the industry who would have no excuse for underperforming if chosen.
What is practised in global corporate operations is that they could have a diverse BOARD OF DIRECTORS that are entrusted to serve the best interest of the company and asking the right questions and sharing cross industry experience in order to ensure check and balance on management actions and recommendations.

Kenapa Khazanah percaya sangat dengan 'genius' pemilik/pengurusan Airasia?

AirAsia's Profit Falls 56%

KUALA LUMPUR—AirAsia Bhd., Southeast Asia's largest discount carrier by fleet size, reported a sharply lower profit in last year's final quarter, although analysts say falling fuel prices may help boost the airline's profitability this year.
Net profit for the three months through Dec. 31 dipped 56% from a year earlier to 135.7 million ringgit ($44.9 million), reflecting mainly higher aircraft-fuel expenses, the carrier said Wednesday. Revenue, however, rose 9.3% to 1.27 billion ringgit, driven by an increase in passengers and higher average fares.
"Based on the current forward booking trend, underlying passenger demand in the first quarter for the Malaysian, Thai and Indonesian operations remains positive," AirAsia said. "Passenger numbers are expected to remain strong for the rest of the quarter, in line with seasonal patterns," it added.
AirAsia is scheduled to take delivery of 20 new A320 Classic aircraft in 2012, and has firm orders with Airbus for 17 of the aircraft, Group Chief Executive Tony Fernandes said in a separate statement. "We also look forward to the listing of AirAsia Thailand and AirAsia Indonesia this year," he said.
The company's 2011 profit fell 47% to 564.1 million ringgit, but revenue climbed 13% to 4.47 billion ringgit. Average fuel prices rose 36% to $131 per barrel.
The airline carried about 18 million passengers, a 12% increase from a year earlier, while its load factor—the proportion of seats filled on flights—rose two percentage points to 80%. Revenue-passenger kilometers, a measure of the volume of passengers carried, rose 14%.
"The results were below our expectation," said MIDF Investment Bank analyst Chua Boon Kian, who had forecast a net profit of 638.6 million ringgit for 2011.
In August, the major shareholders of Malaysian Airline System Bhd. and AirAsia agreed to swap shares in a bid to lower competition and cut costs. Under the collaborative agreement, the airlines aim to realize savings and increase revenue from aircraft purchasing, engineering, ground-support services, cargo services, catering and training.
